Morgan Stanley sees slow Cboe growth as volatility set to ease post-election
** Morgan Stanley downgrades exchange operator Cboe CBOE.Z to "underweight" from "equal-weight", PT at $199
** A steadying economy post elections and expectations of a soft landing are set to curb market volatility and hurt trading volumes at the exchange and in turn decelerate earnings growth - brokerage
** Last week, Cboe reported better-than-expected Q3 profit, helped by strong options trading
** Cboe's "management is focused on investing behind revenue initiatives, which could take time to contribute meaningfully and may also limit further operating expansion into '25 and beyond" - MS
** Cboe has a greater openness to M&As than the market appreciates, coupled with limited share repurchase activity, which could weigh on the stock's premium valuation, says brokerage
** Five of 18 brokerages rate the stock "buy" or higher, 12 "hold" and 1 "sell"; median PT is $217 - LSEG data
** Cboe shares, which have gained nearly 19% so far this year, down marginally before the bell
